DURBAN - The US-Africa Trade Commission will launch a South Africa Chapter in Durban.
The aim is to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Politically, relations between the US and South Africa have soured since Donald Trump became president.
The Commission is not part of the Trump administration. Instead, it is non-governmental body that aims to boost financial links between the two countries.
The launch will see the inauguration of Prof Gostina Malope as the Commission’s Country Director for South Africa.
Among those set to attend is the KZN Premier and the eThekwini mayor. The theme for the two day get together is Advancing Strategic Trade, Investment, Innovation and Academic Cooperation Between Africa, the United States and the Globe.
It kicks off on Thursday.
