JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is among a list of countries being investigated by the United States for alleged unfair trade practices.
The US has launched a Section 301 investigation into South Africa and 59 other countries. A US representative said the probe will focus mainly on forced labour.
It includes investigating whether countries allow goods made with exploitative practices to enter their markets.

The investigation could lead to tariffs or fees if issues are not resolved.
Experts say this is merely an attempt to reimpose trade sanctions that the Supreme Court struck down.
Hearings are scheduled for the 28th of April and South Africa has reportedly dispatched an envoy to make its case.
