US tariffs affect SA sugar exports

JOHANNESBURG - According to a Competition Commission report electricity prices have increased by 68% and water by 50% over the past five years, far exceeding the inflation rate of 28%.

The pain is worse for the unemployed and now sugar farmers are warning of job cuts.

They say they’ve been hit by a double whammy: cheap imports and US tariffs.

The CEO of the SA Canegrowers Association, Dr Thomas Funke discussed this with eNCA.
