WATCH | Jagersfontein: 'Company will take responsibility'
JOHANNESBURG - Mining company Jagersfontein Developments by law must take responsibility for any pollution from the disaster.
The company's Legal compliance officer, Marius de Villiers, says the company's working with independent and government engineers to determine exactly happened.
Charlesville residents say their complaints about the Jagersfontein dam fell on deaf ears.
On Sunday, houses were swept away and others damaged when the dam wall collapsed.
Local resident, Pienkie Michaels, says the most recent owners are not the only ones to blame.
He believes responsibility should be shared by current and previous owners including De Beers and Dubai-based Stargems.
