Zebediela citrus workers left high and dry

The Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) is calling for Government to intervene to save jobs.

JOHANNESBURG - The Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) is calling for Government to intervene to save jobs.

This after workers at Zebediela Citrus Estate were told to stop coming to work this week.

The farm is experiencing challenges, including declining demand for citrus on the global market.

FAWU is blaming government for the mess, saying it failed to play an oversight role, to ensure funds injected into the company were used properly.

The union is also alleging the community has been swindled of its shareholding in the company.
