Cape Town rolls-out wrist tags for children visiting beaches

CAPE TOWN - Busy days at the beach can be a nightmare for parents. And with thousands set to flock to the coast this festive season, the city of Cape Town is boosting efforts to keep children safe.

The Identikidz project allows children to be tagged on arrival at the beach, with a band containing details of the child’s caregiver. The project is managed by the Social Development and early childhood development departments. It will be rolled out at the city's busiest beaches this summer. We speak to Cape Town's Community Safety and Health MMC, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.
