Competition will make Kaizer Chiefs stronger - Peterson

JOHANNESBURG - Kaizer Chiefs captain Brandon Petersen has welcomed the club's latest signings, saying the added competition will strengthen the squad ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.

Petersen is particularly excited to reunite with former schoolmate Renaldo Leaner, who recently joined Amakhosi from Sekhukhune United.

"I think it's a good signing, you know, for the team. Renaldo is a phenomenal goalkeeper. I have known him since we were young; I was his head boy in high school and we have always had a good relationship.

“It was great for me to see how he grew as a goalkeeper, you know, coming from Ajax and how he fought his way back to the PSL.

“To be where he is today, I think it’s a great opportunity for him as well and I think for us as a goalkeeping department it’s actually good.

“I don’t mind competition, you know. For me, if we can push each other to be the best, it doesn’t matter who gets the nod on the day; we will be able to perform and do well, so exciting times looking forward to working with him throughout the season, so I know he is going to do phenomenally well."
