South Africa is experiencing a chaotic chapter in its history. Crisis after crisis, revelation after revelation. At the same time, South African journalism is going through a massive upheaval. The internet is fast changing our understanding of the truth and large multi-national tech companies are scraping already dwindling profits from news outlets. Online actors are skewing words and statements to their own agenda and it's affecting how citizens understand the country. We need to engage with this problem as seriously as we do all the other problems facing this country.
