'Drunk' KZN official arrested after dramatic chase

JOHANNESBURG - A senior KZN Health official has been arrested in a state car for allegedly driving under the influence.

Another drunk adult and a 17-year-old girl were also in the vehicle

The official tried to flee -  leading to a high-speed chase in Park Rynie on the South Coast.

He was eventually arrested. Authorities say alcohol bottles and a gun were found in the vehicle.

The official was denied bail and was detained at Scottburgh Police Station.

Transport authorities are urging motorists to be extra cautious on the roads as scores of people continue to travel to various destinations ahead of Christmas.
