A report by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) emphasises the need for early detection and a coordinated response to outbreaks that pose a risk to public health.
Professor Nicola Page, Acting Head of the Centre for Enteric Diseases at the NICD, noted that overcrowded refrigerators contributed to improper food storage temperatures. There also appeared to be a breakdown in the “first in, first out” principle a key practice in food handling and rotation.
