22 out of 23 beaches safe for swimming - eThekwini Municipality

DURBAN - Summer is almost upon us, and the eThekwini Municipality says 22 out of 23 of its bathing beaches are open and safe for swimming.

Officials say stringent sampling and testing procedures were conducted to ensure beach water quality, every week.

The city says the Warner and Winklespruit beaches have been temporarily closed as a precautionary response to the high tides affecting various coastal areas across the country.

A few months back, several prominent beaches, including Bronze Beach, Umhlanga Main, Umdloti Main and Reunion were closed due to high levels of E Coli.

Action SA says the statement by the city is deceitful. It says the beach water quality tests must be conducted publicly.
