MAKWENG - A team of surgeons at Mankweng Hospital in Limpopo is preparing to put the province on the map.
The team will be performing their first-ever surgery to separate conjoined twins.
This follows the birth of the twin boys to a 29-year-old woman at the facility last week.
The conjoined twin boys, attached at the abdomen, were successfully delivered at the facility after their mother was transferred from Maputha Malatjie Hospital.
The pregnant mother endured a harrowing two-hour journey before surgeons rushed to save all three.
Now, Mankweng Hospital’s team of health professionals is aiming to make history and make the province proud.
In the coming weeks, they plan to perform Limpopo’s first-ever surgery to separate the twins.
