CAPE TOWN - Veteran entertainer Soli Philander has died at the age of 65.
He died on Thursday after battling cancer.
Born Silamour Philander in 1961 and raised in Elsies River, the actor enjoyed a remarkable career spanning theatre, television, radio and cabaret.
He began performing at The Space Theatre in Cape Town before joining the Baxter Theatre. Philander toured with productions to London and the United States.
Audiences have come to know him as the host of Liriekeraai and Vat 'n Kans, and through appearances in series including Arendsvlei and Devil's Peak.
A prolific writer and director, Philander also created one-man shows and contributed to children’s educational theatre.
He leaves behind four children and a foster daughter.
