JOHANNESBURG - With elections less than three weeks away, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research has developed a framework to detect fake election news. 

This in an effort to combat fake news and misinformation amid mounting concerns about disinformation and fake news, fueled by artificial intelligence and deep fakes. 

But how will they do it? 

Dr Zubeida Dawood, research group leader in the information and cyber security centre at the CSIR, spoke to eNCA.
