Discussion | Plans to light up Africa with renewable energy
JOHANNESBURG - About half of Africa's population does not have access to electricity.
That's according to research by the South African Institute of International Affairs.
Despite having substantial renewable energy resources, much of this potential remains untapped due to inadequate funding.
To tackle this, Gaia Fund Managers is raising 200m USD for African renewable energy projects and power grids.
Supported by Apex Group, the Gaia Africa Climate Fund will be set up in Luxembourg.
This will allow direct investment from US and European investors to boost Africa's energy sustainability.
eNCA speaks to the Managing Director of Gaia Fund Managers, Renier de Wit in the video above.
