PRETORIA - A Pretoria-based hairdresser has broken an extraordinary Guinness World Record.
Award-winning hairstylist André Green took his scissors below the surface to treat people to haircuts.
Green smashed the underwater record with 31 haircuts in one hour.
Last year, he completed 540 haircuts in 24 hours, shattering the existing Guinness World Record of 526 and raising funds for charity.
"I knew I was going to be fast because when I was training in water I knew what my times would be. With the first cut i actually chopped my finger while I was cutting. But i worked it out and i knew then that I was going to be fast," he said.
One by one, volunteer divers lined up underwater - each emerging moments later with a fresh trim.

One participant said the experience was fun and had no fear at all.
The attempt was not just about setting a new global benchmark.
It was about showing how passion, skill and purpose can come together to make a meaningful difference.
Green’s goal is to raise R400 000 for the Abraham Kriel Bambanani Children’s Home.
