Health concerns over decomposing whale carcass

GQEBERHA - A whale carcass has been decomposing in a rock pool at Skoenmakerskop for a month.

The Nelson Mandela Bay municipality and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment have been passing the buck on who should remove it.

It’s symptomatic of the neglect faced by beaches around the metro, which are plagued by litter, harming marine life.

In response, concerned residents embarked on a coastline clean-up campaign.
