Event host Standard Bank said the festival is also an opportunity for women to connect and to end Women's Month on a high note.
Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival executive producer Mantwa Chinoamadi said contrary to popular belief, theirs is not a networking event.
“This is not a networking event. It's like women coming back home after working for 70 years. We have a stalwart right in front of us, carrying this baton that she will be passing to other young musicians and to us as practitioners in the space.
“So, we're celebrating Mam Abby. We want to honour her and thank her while she's still alive. And, of course, the other women in the industry who have been holding the fort.
Whether you are a musician or you are a technical director or you are an event producer or a director of a center spectrum. So, here we are going to celebrate ourselves.
