BANGKOK - Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, has been crowned Miss Universe 2025, in Thailand, ending a tumultuous and scandal-filled pageant season.
The 25-year-old faced public berating from an official and walked out of a pre-pageant event in solidarity with other contestants.
Weeks later, two judges resigned, alleging Miss Universe had been rigged, a claim the organisation denies.
Thailand’s Praveenar Singh placed second, with Venezuela, the Philippines, and Cote d’Ivoire rounding out the top five.
Despite controversies, the crowning of Miss Universe highlights the organisation’s effort to stay relevant in a social media-driven world while keeping its mission of empowering women at its core.
