Atlantic Fire and Rescue is training residents of fire-prone informal settlements in Cape Town to prevent and respond to fires.
Since April, shack fires have killed up to 13 people in the province.
As hot, dry and windy conditions increase fire risk, the volunteer brigade is attempting to avert calamities.
