NEW GERMANY - Imagine you're walking in a field and minding your business, and suddenly a huge snake slithers past you.
That's exactly what residents in New Germany, KwaZulu-Natal, experienced earlier this week.
They quickly called in renowned snake catcher Nick Evans.
The serpent turned out to be an almost 3.5-metre python.
Wrangling it proved difficult, but the snake was no match for Evans and a municipal worker named Joseph.
They caught it, and it's been released at a place of safety.
Evans said it's abnormal to find pythons in that area.
"It's an industrial area. There are a lot of trucks, so maybe one caught a lift in a truck and popped out from there," he said.
