JOHANNESBURG - As food prices continue to climb, many are turning to township food.
These kasitrepreneurs are dishing up affordable meals and building brands.
The Nyama Battle is helping them take their businesses to the next level.
The winners will get a fully-equipped food truck and Boxer rewards.
Nyama Battle judge, Keegan Maistry, said Nyama Battle is very interesting.
“It is a street food show that actually offers the local community to get involved and give them elevation to their business, ensuring they can actually take it to the next level.
“It is actually a competition that is given to South Africans, 12 South Africans to be precise, to give them that opportunity to become Nyama Battle champion and elevate their street food business to the next level by winning a food truck as well as Boxer reward points, stuff like that, there to elevate their Kasi Corner, which is what we usually call it."
