CAPE TOWN - Stop and smell the fynbos as flower season opens at the West Coast National Park near Saldanha Bay.
It's welcoming Spring with a botanical tour.
The park is showing off beautiful, colourful flowers, including fynbos.
Park manager Charlene Adams sees this year bringing forth a different flower season compared to that of 2025.
She said the West Coast is experiencing a much earlier flower season, with the first bloom experienced at the end of July already.
"If we are looking at this year, I can say there was not a big display of flowers compared to previous years and that can be attributed to the dry winter season that we had as well as the warmer season," she said.
But even so, Adams says the park is worth the view.
"Our flower season officially starts on 1 August and then we tend to end off on 30 August and that time of the year our Postberg section of the National Park is also open to visitors because it is only open during eight weeks of the year and we've seen all visitors during the flower season usually flock towards Postberg because this is also where you'll see bulk of the blooms in the National Park..."
