DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal continues to be vulnerable to extreme weather that results in deaths and considerable damage to infrastructure.
A team of researchers from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a few international institutions have come together to develop a community-centred early warning system, similar to one utilised in Malaysia.
The aim is to assist communities to take early precautionary measures in order to minimise damage to property and save lives.
The team of researchers is hopeful the project will prove successful and help prevent the fatalities and heavy damage that have hit KZN so hard in recent years.
