JOHANNESBURG - Motorists heading towards FNB Stadium precinct on Saturday have been urged to plan ahead.
This as major roads are expected to be affected ahead of the Springboks’ clash against the All Blacks.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Xolani Fihla said road closures are expected to begin at 11am, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm.
“A strict Traffic Exclusion Zone will be enforced around the stadium. Motorists using private vehicles are required to purchase parking tickets in advance. No entry will be granted into the stadium precinct for private vehicles without a valid parking ticket,” Fihla said.
Affected routes:
- Soweto Highway with routes strictly reserved for Rea Vaya and Gautrain buses.
- Nasrec Road will be converted into a four-lane one-way system post-match for rapid clearing of the precinct.
- Crownwood Road & Booysens Reserve will see full closure with access restricted to Park and Ride buses.
Alternative routes:
- N1, M1, and N12 Highways
- Main Reef Road
“To avoid congestion and parking constraints, spectators are strongly encouraged to use public transport,” Fihla said, adding that these services may include Park and Ride Services, Rea Vaya, e-hailing service and the Gautrain.
