CRADOCK - A shortage of burial space in Cradock, officially known as Inxuba, is raising concerns among residents.
The Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality is one of 69 municipalities that have had their equitable share funding withheld by the National Treasury over financial concerns.
The impact is being felt across service delivery, including a growing shortage of burial space.
Families say overcrowded cemeteries are making it increasingly difficult to bury their loved ones or locate existing graves.
Poor maintenance has worsened the situation.
In some cemeteries, overgrown grass, vandalised fencing and a lack of visible security have left burial sites neglected.
