DA says upcoming party Congress 'reflection of growth'

JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance says its Federal Congress this weekend will be a moment of reflection.

The party plans to assess its electoral performance and internal structures. This will be its largest federal congress yet, with 2,000 delegates.

New leaders will be vying for key positions, including federal leader and chairperson of the powerful federal executive, the party’s top decision-making body between conferences.

Federal Congress Presiding Officer Werner Horn said the upcoming congress was culmination of a process that started a year ago when the party started verifying branches.
