JOHANNESBURG - eNCA's latest MarkData election projection shows that the Democratic Alliance may win in Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB).
The DA and ANC have historically been neck-and-neck in the metro. In 2016 the DA got 47% of the vote, while the ANC got 41% and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) got 5%.
"This shows that it has always been tight between the DA and ANC," says election analyst Wayne Sussman.
In 2021 the DA got 40%, while the ANC got 39% and the EFF got 6%. This was the closest metropolitan race in the country.
In these local government election the DA are estimated to get between 42% and 46%, the ANC between 23% and 27%, which is a dramatic decline.
