'Everything is falling apart,' EFF calls for accountability in eThekwini.

DURBAN - The Economic Freedom Fighters' (EFF) eThekwini mayoral candidate Hlengiwe Mkhaliphi says her party will prioritise the people.

Mkhaliphi spoke at the We The Nation Elections 2026 debate at Mangosuthu University of Technology in Umlazi on Sunday.

She lamented failures in municipal service delivery.

‘Everything is falling apart in eThekwini,’ she explained.

Mkhaliphi also accused the current leadership of failing to communicate with residents.

‘We need a mayor that loves people, loves accountability and will interact with people to solve the problem.’

Mkhaliphi wants a Metro that is transparent about the reasons for water problems.

‘They are not explaining to the community why there has been no water for eight years,’ she says.

Mkhaliphi says that in her party's first 100 days, they will address the water billing system, debt in the City, and the water crisis.
