JOHANNESBURG - Political parties have until 5pm on Friday to lodge objections with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).
The deadline comes as the Commission deals with more than 800 complaints from political contestants, most relating to allegations that party agents were prevented from observing voting and counting processes.
The IEC says final election results will only be announced once all objections have been considered and disputes resolved.
IEC Deputy CEO Masego Sheburi says most complaints relate to allegations that party agents were prevented from observing voting and counting processes.
Sheburi says the majority of these complaints have been resolved, with approximately 106 still outstanding as of Thursday evening.
He clarified that contestants have a separate opportunity to raise objections that could have a material impact on the declared results.

Sheburi says the IEC will only be able to indicate when it plans to announce the final results once these objections have been considered.
The Commission estimates that 15.9 million South Africans participated in the elections, including those who cast special votes.
