Majodina blames water crisis on ageing infrastructure

PRETORIA - Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina attributes the country's ongoing water crisis to ageing infrastructure.

Majodina and SIU Acting Head Leonard Lekgetho launched an Anti-Corruption Forum in Pretoria, aimed at rooting out corruption in the water sector.

''Whoever wants to blame us as DWS for not producing water is disingenuous," Majodina said.

"You can't walk on the street with water if we’re not delivering. Weliver bulk infrastructure through our water entity and board.

"We pump water, but it does not go to the reservoir because of ageing infrastructure and lack of maintenance."
