JOHANNESBURG - Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela says the government is redesigning NSFAS to improve its performance, despite calls to scrap the scheme.
NSFAS has faced ongoing criticism over delays in paying student fees and accommodation allowances.

With the 2027 academic year approaching, Manamela is promising students timely payments.
"The assurance to South Africans, particularly to those students who will be applying for 2027 and also students who are currently in the system, is that their allowances will be paid on time, and their tuition will be paid on time," he said.
