Parties gear up for fierce Nelson Mandela Bay election battle

The ANC says internal political squabbles won’t distract it from its campaign.

The party is now ramping up its campaign in the hotly contested metro ahead of next month’s polls.

The metro is currently governed by an ANC-led coalition.

In the 2021 Local Government Elections, the ANC and Democratic Alliance were locked in a tight race, with both parties securing 48 seats in the Nelson Mandela Bay Council.

But successive multi-party coalitions have struggled to deliver political stability, while service delivery remains a major concern.

The DA is hoping to secure a convincing victory, but says getting voters to the polls remains a challenge.
