Police raid illegal KZN call centre

DURBAN – KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested several people at a fake call centre in Durban.

The suspects were allegedly running call centre scams believed to be worth millions of rands at a property in Umhlanga.

The police raid was part of a long-running fraud investigation with the banking sector.

It is believed the people arrested were employed by two businessmen and their modus operandi involved calling certain individuals who had a lot of money in their bank accounts.

The targeted victims were asked to move their money under the pretence that their bank accounts were compromised.

Once the money was moved, it was then transferred to the accounts of the two kingpins.
