BRITS - Political parties are making a final push to encourage eligible South Africans to register to vote ahead of the November local government elections.
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa and his team are on the campaign trail in the North West.
But the party's plan to woo voters didn't go as planned.
They encountered some angry residents in Madibeng who didn't want to see the President.
The community is, however, now locked in a meeting with Ramaphosa.
Meanwhile, DA leader Geordin Hill-Lewis urged Gauteng residents to register and vote, saying the future of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni is critical to South Africa’s economic recovery.
He says fixing deteriorating infrastructure, restoring reliable water and electricity services, and tackling hijacked buildings should be top priorities for voters.
In the Western Cape, residents of Macassar say poor service delivery continues to dominate daily life.
Community members point to broken streetlights, ageing infrastructure, rising crime, limited opportunities for young people and a severe housing backlog as some of the issues they want addressed by the next local government.
They say years of unfulfilled promises have left many residents feeling ignored.
