Private security to help police on 30 June

JOHANNESBURG - Several groups are finalising plans for protests against illegal immigration on Tuesday.

Law enforcement agencies are also stepping up plans with a R600-million operation.

Private security companies are also being roped in.

"Well, firstly, we've got contracts with our customers and our clients and we need to make sure that we secure and protect their property and their people," said Wahl Bartmann, Fidelity Services Group CEO.

"But also, I think we've got a duty towards South Africa to also assist where we can."

Bartmann said their airwing, which consists of seven helicopters, will be flying throughout the day to monitor and report back and assist the SAPS and all other divisions on the incidents of the day.
