PORT SHEPSTONE – The man accused of stealing 541 kilograms of cocaine worth about R216-million in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, is back in court for his bail application.
Businessman Lucas Legabe is due to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. He was arrested in Pretoria last month.
The cocaine allegedly disappeared from the KwaZulu-Natal Hawks’ offices in November 2021 -- a case that has since come under scrutiny at the Madlanga Commission.
Legabe (49) denies the allegations and claims he was tortured by authorities and forced to confess following his arrest.
He faces charges of housebreaking with intent to steal and dealing in drugs.
The court is expected to hear further arguments in his ongoing bail application.
