Ramaphosa says Tshwane water crisis could be resolved within days

DAVEYTON - President Cyril Ramaphosa says the water contamination crisis in Tshwane is receiving urgent attention, with a solution expected within days.

He apologised to residents affected by the crisis, which has been linked to gastrointestinal illnesses.

Ramaphosa was campaigning in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, where residents raised concerns about service delivery, unemployment, crime and poor road infrastructure.

The comments come as water supply challenges continue to affect Tshwane, Ekurhuleni and the City of Johannesburg.

'We're invoking the work of the National Water Crisis Committee. So the National Water Crisis Committee is dealing with the challenge, and we are hoping that in a few days we will have a solution," he said.

"We will be dealing with that problem because we cannot afford a situation where our people are prone to illness because of our inability to treat water properly."
