HAMMANSKRAAL - President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised Hammanskraal residents safer communities and better services.
But in an area plagued by water shortages, where residents can go days without running water, those promises are wearing thin.
In 2023, a cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal claimed 30 lives.
Ramaphosa insists progress is being made and that the water crisis will be resolved.
He also says the ANC is changing how it selects candidates, calling for qualified people to run for mayor and council.
“Councillors must not be chosen in offices. They must be chosen by you, because you are the ones who know them,” he says.
The ANC has lost its outright majority in all three Gauteng metros and is trying to rebuild trust and regain support in some of its former strongholds.
