Ratanda promised water after deadly protests

JOHANNESBURG - Ratanda residents are threatening to continue protests on Monday morning.

This is despite a promise from Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi to restore water to the area.

Deadly protests erupted after weeks of water cuts.

Two people were killed in clashes with police, but the exact circumstances are yet to be released.

Fifteen protesters were also arrested, with four expected to appear in the Heidelberg magistrate's court.

Frustrated residents also torched Lesedi Mayor Mluleki Nkosi's house, but no arrests have yet been made for that attack.
