CAPE TOWN - Police have identified several crime hotspots across Cape Town as preparations intensify to ensure safety during the upcoming elections.
The areas flagged include Nyanga, Khayelitsha and parts of the Tygerberg sub-district, where crime patterns indicate higher levels of risk.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) says its deployment strategy is guided by crime trends, with officers allocated according to high-, medium- and low-risk categories.

Western Cape Police Commissioner Sizakhele Dyantyi says the approach is aimed at ensuring adequate police
“The hotspots are within the City of Cape Town, in areas where we have a high incidence of crime. These include Nyanga, the Khayelitsha sub-district and the Tygerberg sub-district.
These areas have been identified as hotspots based on our crime patterns. We use these categories to guide our deployment, allocating officers according to high-, medium- and low-risk levels to ensure that all areas are covered," said Dyantyi.
