JOHANNESBURG - A case of intimidation has been opened against Zimbabwean businessman Lawrence Mudzinganyama.
Mudzinganyama was caught on camera allegedly threatening a group of women who rejected his advances at an upmarket restaurant in Sandton.
In the video, Mudzinganyama allegedly follows the women into a restroom and threatens them after they reject him. He is also seen flaunting his status and allegedly threatening to kill one of the women.
Mudzinganyama has since apologised for his behaviour. However, the restaurant, Vlamo, reported the incident to police.
Steyn City is also believed to have cancelled his lease.
Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia has confirmed that a case of intimidation is being investigated. He has also called for greater scrutiny of the businessman’s status in South Africa.
Moriel Infrastructure Group, where Mudzinganyama served as chairman and director, has also severed ties with him.
