PRETORIA - National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza says she is neither taking sides nor being dismissive of political parties.
Didiza has defended her decision not to oppose President Cyril Ramaphosa’s bid to interdict the Impeachment Committee. She says her stance should not be interpreted as support for one party over another.

Didiza says she made the decision in order to maintain her impartiality.
"It is not correct to say that this is a party line," she says.
"I've carefully considered all matters before me from the beginning of the process," she adds.
Ramaphosa approached the court to interdict the work of the Impeachment Committee pending a review of the Section 89 Independent Panel’s report.

He argues that the panel exceeded its mandate and relied on hearsay rather than facts.
Didiza has since filed a notice to abide by the court’s ruling and will submit an explanatory affidavit.
