Tshwane tender payments under scrutiny

PRETORIA - Alleged tender manipulation in City of Tshwane was a key force at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday. 

Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Deputy Commissioner Revo Spies who was on the hot seat testified before the Commission that Gubis85 Solutions a security company received R59-million from the city for services not rendered.

Spies added that the figures raised red flags with irregular fluctuations pointing to possible manipulation.

At the same time, Spies says Metro Police Commissioner Yolande Faro refused to approve a budget increase for ad hoc security services.

He says Faro instructed that all irregular ad hoc services must be stopped immediately.

Spies added that he was tasked to investigate and introduce a new process to manage these services.
