PRETORIA - Fresh questions are swirling around whether EFF leader Julius Malema could be called to testify before the Madlanga Commission.
Evidence leaders unpacked a series of WhatsApp messages they say suggest Malema was used as a conduit between Feroz Khan and former Crime Intelligence official Muhammad Sayed.
The Commission's spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, says the decision now rests with the Commission's evidence leaders, who are determined to ensure everyone implicated is treated fairly.
Malema has previously defended his relationship with Khan and said it was in line with his responsibilities as a Member of Parliament.
Public Interest SA's Tebogo Khaas says the excuse would be acceptable, had the text not shown Malema also reaching out for personal favours.
