JOHANNESBURG - It appears South Africans could be in for a wet Christmas.
The South African Weather Service has released its December and seasonal outlook, forecasting a 60 percent chance of showers and thundershowers across Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal during the afternoon.
Forecasters say the outlook is meant to help the public plan ahead and make informed travel and holiday decisions.
“If there is sufficient moisture, we will continue monitoring conditions and issuing warnings,” said SA Weather Service forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela.
The forecast comes amid frequent weather warnings in several parts of the country.
KwaZulu-Natal, which is often hardest hit by flooding, has already experienced heavy rainfall this month.
