JOHANNESBURG - The 2026 local government elections are on the horizon.
And as the Electoral Commission prepares to announce its readiness, South Africans still await clarity on who political parties will put forward as mayoral candidates.
The DA has already revealed Cilliers Brink as its pick for Tshwane.
But it, along with other parties, remain tight-lipped about choices for the remaining metros.
One analyst suggests that parties that wait to announce their candidates after the elections may alienate the voters.
The Electoral Commission says its briefing on Tuesday will cover progress preparations, key developments in the electoral landscape, and upcoming activities leading up to the elections.
