JOHANNESBURG - The Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences demerit system has been postponed.
The implementation was due to commence on 1 December 2025.
Now, 1 July 2026 has been earmarked as the new implementation date.
The officer training and funding still need finalisation.
“The postponement comes amid an assessment by the Department of the state of readiness in some of the municipalities that were to form part of the first implementation phase,” the Transport department said in a statement.
