Ad Hoc Committee to consider deadline extension

CAPE TOWN - Parliament's SAPS Ad Hoc Committee is meeting to consider extending its deadline.

It's investigating claims from KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

The committee has already heard testimony implicating senior officials in illegal contracts and organised crime. MPs are now analysing the testimony as they compile a final report.

But they are now looking at applying for a further extension beyond Tuesday's deadline.

The committee was initially given until the end of October 2025 to finalise its work.

That deadline was moved to 28 November and again to 20 February 2026, and then to 31 March.
