Afrikaner resettlement | Dirco labels ‘refugee’ plan as politically motivated

PRETORIA - Government says President Trump’s plan to resettle Afrikaner families in the US is entirely politically motivated.

It says it's a guise to question South Africa's constitutional democracy.

The US administration has reportedly started processing so-called refugees and will begin resettling them. 

Pretoria says this flies in the face of both the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 protocol.

It maintains that there is no discrimination or ill-treatment of white South Africans. 

But it says there are appropriate independent channels to address concerns. 

The country says it will not block anyone leaving, as it respects the Constitution. 

But, it does want verification of the status they are leaving under and that they have no pending criminal cases.
